Kitchen Remodeling In 2020
ONIT Roofing & Construction provides roofing solutions for both commercial and residential customers all over Texas, but we can also handle construction projects of any size! This includes building out additions, kitchen rebuilds or complete remodels. Kitchen styles in the past few years has not changed much, but they seem to be making a change in 2020. How do we know this? Paint colors... paint manufacturers release the upcoming "hot colors" every year. In 2020, they are forecasting that many different shades of blue and green are going to be trending, and the most popular. Some designers are even claiming that some shades of blue are considered to be a "new neutral".
NEUTRAL NO MORE
After years of grey, beige and taupe, kitchen cabinets are getting more colorful according to industry designers. The blue and greens come in with wall covering and cabinets as well; bright greens, sky or navy blue, coral, olive, chartreuse, pale mint - but one thing to remember when picking out a color.... styles change! Thousands of avocado sinks (and entire bathrooms) have survived the 80's and 90's!
Adding a splash of color to your cabinets can really amp up a kitchen. If your cabinets aren't painted, natural wood cabinets are also evolving quite a bit. Cabinets are no longer OAK-ONLY showing up in ash, walnut, pine and other subtle-grained woods, as well as eco-friendly reclaimed wood cabinetry like bamboo. More color on kitchen cabinets syncs with what we are seeing in design trends overall.
We are big fans of a tasteful kitchen remodel, and the backsplash can be a great place to experiment with vivid colors, or vibrant patterns. If you have a tile backsplash already, we can easily replace it with a fresh new pattern or texture. Adding things like natural stone tile, or even adding stainless tiles can add some character that may be your style. If you are looking for something more traditional, go with a simple subway tile in a standard brick pattern or do a classic chevron backsplash. This is also a great place to add wallpaper if you have something in mind, but you will need to cover it with a water proofing sealant.
Your kitchen is often the heart of the home and this trend will continue in 2020. At the top of many lists is concealed range hood. Those big chrome hoods are being tucked beneath wood or tiled columns or disguised in copper sheeting. As for other appliances, you’ll find them in every color imaginable. Don't get me wrong, a flaming hot pink oven sounds really awesome, but what about 5 years from now? You may want to go bold, but think about color trends and how often they change - paint changes are easy; appliances, not so much.
After ONIT Roofing & Construction remodels your kitchen into a chef's paradise, go bold with paint. Paint can be easily changed (if your mood changes) and can be a simple DIY project - knock it out in a weekend for less than $50!
Granite counters, or solid surface countertops are a mainstay in kitchen design. We all love marble; Carrara marble will always be in style, but if you're a red wine drinker, quartz would be a much better fit for you and your kitchen.” It’s affordable and doesn’t stain as easily as marble. Concrete, solid surface and butcher block are also popular materials for countertops. Set into these countertops will be sinks that are bigger, more functional and available in a wider variety of styles and finishes than ever before.
Designers have been doing more open shelving in place of upper cabinets in the past few years. Appliances such as microwaves are joining dishwashers in the lower cabinetry. Upper cabinets that remain tend to be more open, often metal or glass shelving, to help integrate the space into adjacent living areas. This makes for a clean, cool look, but only if you and your family are willing to keep the upper shelves or open cabinets clear of clutter.
